Steven Meyer Obituary

Steven L. Meyer, 69 of Jefferson, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his home.

Steve was born on May 23, 1954, in Watertown, WI, the only son of Louis and Joyce (Hein) Meyer.  He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1972 and later continued his education at WCTC in Waukesha.  Steve was employed at the Jefferson County Highway Shop for nearly 43 years, a job he enjoyed and a place where lifelong friendships were established.  He retired in 2017.

Steve was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome; where he served others through the Cross Ministry, a project he especially enjoyed.  Steve was a fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing with his grandsons. He was also an athlete and stayed very active his entire life.  Quick to shoot hoops, throw a ball with his grandchildren, hit the golf course, take a hike, go for a run, or manicure his lawn; Steve liked to be busy.  His personality was strong, and he had conviction in his actions and abilities.  Never lacking in confidence, it was understood that Steve would never have dropped a pass, thrown an interception, or missed a tackle for the Green Bay Packers – just ask him.  He had the gift of gab and a kind heart.  His family admired his moral compass, personal honesty, and the way he loved them all so completely. He will be deeply missed.

Steve is survived by his best friend, Stacy Riedl of Jefferson; his children Matthew (Kelly) Meyer of Oconomowoc and AJ (Nate) Keller of Muskego; Stacy’s children Anthony (Andrea Caminata) Riedl and Emma Riedl both of Jefferson; grandchildren Lukas, Vaughn, Sienna, and Valerie; and his sister Barb Fanello of Watertown.  He is also survived by a large extended family and many friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held from 1:00pm – 4:00pm on Saturday, May 18, at Stix Event Center, 214 Golf Dr, Jefferson, WI 53549.
